Andrea and Emanuele discussed video game licensing agreements at Queen Mary University of London’s LLM course in Interactive Entertainment Law

19 MARCH 2021

Andrea and Emanuele joined Gaetano and Professor David Greenspan from Santa Clara University as part of a lecture on licensing agreements in video games addressed to Gaetano’s students from the Queen Mary University of London’s LLM course in Interactive Entertainment Law.

What are the key legal and business considerations to be mindful of when licensing (in) existing IP-protected materials for use in connection with video games? What should a developer/publisher focus on when licensing (out) video game-related IP for further/secondary exploitation of their creative efforts (e.g., in respect of the making of a movie based on a videogame IP)? How is music for use within a game dealt with? These are some of the topics that were discussed during the lecture.
